Frank Yamma - Uncle

Just released on Australian label Wantok is Frank Yamma's new album "Uncle".
Frank is a highly respected Australian artist.

"Regarded by many as one of Australia’s most important Indigenous Songwriters, Yamma’s brutally honest tales of alcohol abuse, cultural degradation, respect for the old law and the importance of country are spine tingling. His ability to cross cultural and musical boundaries constantly sets new standards through his music."

We took care of the graphic design for this project - a digipak with CD booklet.

Artwork for Wantok release "Bibirosi" - a collection of songs from PNG performed by Wailliam Takaku and Pidia Kaur Group.

“Traditionally, arts and ceremony were used to pass on beliefs, morality and codes of behaviour. Ceremonial art was integral to the ordering of society. Stories often used environmental metaphors. Tradition was based on a respect for the environment, a harmonious relationship with it. It was not a hierarchical situation in which the environment was secondary, as is the case in a technological age.

New Artwork – Nathan Haines "Vermillion Skies"

Just released is a new album from Nathan Haines Vermillion Skies.
This follows on from last year's The Poet's Embrace and in keeping with that release we designed artwork that fitted the feel of a traditional jazz album without the trap of coming across kitch-retro.
Photography is by Adrian Malloch. 

Vermillion Skies debuted at #5 in the New Zealand Top 40 album chart (April 5, 2013) between Bruno Mars and Justin Timberlake and is available on CD (Super Jewel Box) and limited edtiton 12" LP.

Congratulations are in order for Nathan - The Poet's Embrace won the award for 2013 New Zealand Jazz Album of the Year - the NZ equivalent of a Grammy or ARIA Award. The Poet's Embrace will be released in Europe on the Warner Classics in May 2013.
